Controller
Odyssey is looking for a hands-on controller with 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing the monthly close process; accounting, valuation and other third-party specialists; financial statement preparation; SOX/internal controls; planning and forecasting. This position will also be responsible for the technical accounting of significant transactions.
Responsibilities/Success Factors
The Controller is responsible for directing the company’s overall financial management processes to include preparation of financial statements, regulatory and compliance reporting, accounting, tax, internal control, audit and compliance monitoring.

Specifically, the Controller will be expected to manage the following functions:

Lead and supervise the Finance team and drive efficiency of the core finance processes and functions.

Oversee general accounting/treasury responsibilities, and regulatory reporting process including review of journal entries, evaluation of accounting treatment for complex nonrecurring transactions, financial statement close, business processes and internal controls.

Manage third-party service providers for the Finance function including specialist accountants, valuation specialists and tax accountants.

Ensure adherence to all accounting standards, tax laws, regulatory compliance and internal controls, including GAAP, SEC regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Oversee all aspects of SEC reporting on Forms 10-K and 10-Qs.

Manage audit process, including the relationship with auditors.

Meet regularly with senior management to provide accurate financial and projection information and status updates, and obtain notification of significant transactions for accounting evaluation.

Oversee budgeting and forecasting and provide guidance to senior management on long-term financial planning and cost management in alignment with the company’s strategic plan, especially as the organization considers new business opportunities, potential acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizations.

Evaluate and maintain internal control policies and procedures.

Review and evaluate all significant accounting transactions, including identification of accounting issues, communication with senior management, coordination of accounting and valuation specialists, and communications with audit team regarding accounting for transactions.

Prepare and present financial and accounting information to the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee.

Manage other accounting and finance projects as requested by management.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum BS/BA in accounting, finance or other related major
-
CPA, with experience in public accounting, Big 4 a plus
-
5+ years’ of progressive financial and accounting management experience in a dynamic operating environment, including experience as a controller and advising senior management

Extensive knowledge of MS Office products

Business Central experience a plus

Strong attention to detail, analytical and abstract reasoning skills

Team focused and collaborative

Strong written and oral communication skills

Strong priority and time management skills, ability to respond to strategic and tactical changes as required

Experience operating in public company environments, including experience with compliance/ audit/ Sarbanes-Oxley

Strong understanding of SEC, Nasdaq and FINRA regulations preferred

Demonstrable record of professional accomplishment as a senior finance and accounting manager evidencing leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $140,000 - $190,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
