ROV Project Manager

Position Summary

The ROV Project Manager will take ownership and overall control of remote vehicle operations, equipment spread maintenance, spares, and personnel offshore.  They will be responsible for managing all aspects of safety, client liaison, personnel activity while offshore, operational certainty management, and for the safe offshore operation of the ROV to deliver an ROV service that adheres to quality and reliability requirements that enable our customer success. 

 

This position requires both on shore and offshore duties and responsibilities.  The ROV Project Manager reports to the Director of Marine Operations ensuring that all aspects of the ROV operation are carried out in accordance with the ship and company policies.  Offshore supervisors and technical crew report into this position. The ROV Project Manager collaborates with the research and scientific team, corporate marine operations, vendors, and vessel management. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for organizing and managing the ROV team. 

  • Effective handling of operations and emergency situations. 

  • Working with the Vessel Master as required, to optimize vessel positioning on the work site. 

  • Establishes a maintenance program and Standard Operating Procedures coordinated with shipboard policies. 

  • Establishes an inventory system for spare parts. 

  • Administrative responsibilities include crew scheduling, daily progress reports, financial tracking and forecasting, budget adherence and forecast, personnel evaluations, and incident reporting and resolution. 

  • Explain and delegate operational tasks to team and ship’s crew members.  

  • Responsible for managing the mobilization and demobilization activities.  

  • Assess personnel and interface effectively with the client. 

  • Required to interpret job requirements and coordinate equipment needed with onshore support. 

  • Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate in English and take a leadership role over the group for which they have supervisory responsibilities while offshore. 

  • Able to effectively communicate complex information to both management and other employees, anticipating questions and focusing on key elements.  

  • Handles sensitive issues and exhibits exemplary customer service to internal and external customers. 

  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately. 

  • Facilitate problem resolution with more complex issues. 

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical/management discipline a plus. 

  • 7+ years in the ROV industry and experience in a similar role. 

  • Valid Driver's license and Passport for travel required. 

  • Offshore Medical and Survival Certificates. 

  • Seaman's Book. 

  • Recognized as having a specialized depth or breadth of expertise within Mechanical / Hydraulic or Electrical / Electronic disciplines. 

  • Experience in IT is desirable.
