John D. Longley, Jr.

John. D. Longley, Jr.’s energetic approach to identifying strategic business opportunities and directing project development is a driving force behind Odyssey’s subsea mineral resource projects. A natural team builder and leader, Mr. Longley works with the international research and marine operations departments to identify prospective projects and advance their value through geological, environmental, engineering, and commercial programs with the goal of commencing mineral extraction in an environmentally responsible way.


Mr. Longley was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2014 and became President of the company in 2019. Previously, Mr. Longley served as Senior Vice President since 2012 and Director of Business Operations since 2005 when he joined the company.


During the company’s history in shipwreck exploration, he was integral in executing agreements that led to the monetization of millions of dollars in valuable finds as well as orchestrating the development of Odyssey’s global distribution network for shipwreck coins and collectibles. Using his vast experience in business logistics and marketing, he joined the executive team in creating new deep-ocean opportunities that use Odyssey’s core competencies, which was a vital step in the company’s pivot to subsea mineral resource exploration where the company now has multiple projects in various stages of development around the world.


Prior to joining Odyssey, Mr. Longley served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Public Imagery from 2003 to 2005 and Director of Retail Marketing for Office Depot North American stores from 1998 to 2003. Mr. Longley graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a specialty in Advertising from Florida State University.
