Underwater Minerals Conference
The 54th Underwater Minerals Conference (UMC 2026), presented by the International Marine Minerals Society in partnership with a Japanese local committee including JOGMEC, JAMSTEC, DORD, E&E Solutions, and Osaka Metropolitan University, continues a longstanding tradition dating back to 1970 of bringing together the global marine minerals community. Recognized as the world’s largest gathering of ocean mineral stakeholders, the conference convenes representatives from more than 25 countries across government, academia, and the commercial sector to discuss the latest developments in underwater mineral exploration, science, technology, regulation, and resource development. The 2026 technical program is chaired by Dr. Mark Luther, president of IMMS.
