Jon D. Sawyer joined the Board of Directors in November 2009 and has served as Chairman of the Compensation Committee since March 2011. He also served as Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee from June 2010 to June 2011 and again from June 2015 to June 2021.

Mr. Sawyer is a retired securities attorney with over 50 years of experience in legal and regulatory matters. He opened his own securities law firm in Denver, Colorado, in January 2014 and practiced until his retirement in January 2018. Before that, he was a practicing securities lawyer with Jin, Schauer & Saad, LLC from March 2009 to December 2013.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Sawyer served as a trial attorney in the Denver Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1976 to 1979. He spent the next 27 years in private practice, including serving as a partner with the Denver law firm Krys, Boyle, P.C. from 1996 to 2007. From 1997 to 2006, he served as securities counsel to Odyssey Marine Exploration. From 2007 to 2009, he served as co-owner, President, and General Counsel of Professional Recovery Systems, LLC, a financial services firm specializing in the acquisition and collection of charged-off consumer debt portfolios.

Mr. Sawyer earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming in 1974 and a Bachelor of Science degree from the same institution in 1968. He is licensed to practice law in Wyoming (since 1974) and Colorado (since 1977) and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
