Susan Fennessey

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Susan Fennessey is a solution-oriented general counsel and executive leader with more than 20 years of experience. She is dedicated to balancing the company’s business and strategic goals with managing legal risk, compliance and corporate governance.


Ms. Fennessey joined Odyssey as General Counsel in 2022 and is responsible for directing the company’s overall legal function and providing legal counsel and guidance to the management team in developing and implementing the company’s projects and legal compliance across the company and its subsidiaries. In 2023 she was also named Corporate Secretary for Odyssey. 


Prior to joining Odyssey, Ms. Fennessey was the EVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Mesabi Metallics Company (previously Essar Steel Minnesota), a U.S.-based mineral project owned by Essar Global Fund Limited. Ms. Fennessey also served as a Director at AGC Networks, a U.S. subsidiary of Essar. She began her career at Shearman & Sterling LLP in 1998.


Ms. Fennessey received her Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland. She is the co-author of the Practicing Law Institute’s book Financially Distressed Companies: Answer Book 2013 and other publications.
