Director of Marine Operations

Andrew Craig is responsible for the management and acquisition of the high-tech deep-ocean tools used in mineral exploration projects as well as leading operations offshore. Mr. Craig has extensive knowledge in mechanical engineering and the archaeological operations of recovery using ROVs. 


Mr. Craig joined Odyssey in 2002 as an ROV/Side-scan Sonar Technician. In 2006 he was promoted to a Project Manager position, later becoming a Senior Project Manager in 2008. In 2016 he was named Director of Marine Operations. 


During his tenure at Odyssey, Mr. Craig has taken part in hundreds of shipwreck discoveries and recovery operations including the SS Republic, a Civil War-era steamship containing 51,000 gold and silver coins and the SS Gairsoppa, a 4,700 meter deep WWII-era steel ship that yielded 110 tons of silver bullion. 


Prior to joining Odyssey, Mr. Craig was the Operations Manager for Sub-Surface Engineering, where he mobilized and executed hydrographic and topographic surveys, diving operations, and ROV inspections. Mr. Craig has also worked as a commercial and recreational dive instructor. Mr. Craig has a Bachelor of Sciences, with honors, in Underwater Studies with Hydrography from Plymouth University. Mr. Craig has also earned a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from Lackham College.
